The Mormon leadership wants people to think it is "The Church of Jesus Christ" when it is nothing of the sort.

February 2020 - Utah Senator Mitt Romney's vote to remove U. S. President Donald Trump from office has once again focused attention on his Mormon religion. In a speech explaining his vote, Mr Romney cited a responsibility before "God" three times. His Utah senatorial colleague, Mike Lee, also a Mormon, voted to acquit Mr. Trump. Senator Lee, in a keynote speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in 2014, spoke of his "faith in Jesus Christ."

Many evangelicals have been deceived into believing that the "God" and "Jesus" of whom these and other Mormon public figures speak are the authentic God and Jesus of Scripture. They are not. 

The leadership of the Mormon church has launched a campaign to suppress the use of the names "Mormon" and "Mormonism" to describe their cult. This marks a substantial departure from a publicity campaign of a past decade in which members of the church were depicted as "just regular Christians" and the tag-line at the end of each radio, television and magazine ad was simply, "We're the Mormons." Sadly, the campaign to bring Mormonism into the "Christian mainstream" has achieved considerable success.

Why the Change?

Leading Mormons like Senators Romney and Lee want their church to be thought of as simply another branch of Christianity. The cult's official website has published a style guide for the use of Mormons worldwide that emphasizes this false religion's official name, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints." The new style guide goes on to say,

When describing the combination of doctrine, culture and lifestyle unique to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the term "the restored gospel of Jesus Christ" is accurate and preferred.

Authentic Christianity In Contrast

The authentic Word of God clearly denies such an assertion. The fact remains that the principal scripture of this cult not the Bible but a volume called The Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith, a man who dabbled in the occult, alleged was given to him by an angel named Moroni in the 1820s. The "gospel" of Mormonism is one which the Holy Spirit through Paul condemns:

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the Gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.

But I make known to you, brethren, that the Gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ. (Galatians 1:6-12)

These words of condemnation could well be spoken today to many self-described evangelicals who are believing the lie that Mormonism is merely another branch of authentic Christianity. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

What is the truth about Mormonism? In the articles that will follow, we shall examine the Mormon religion and see what a great gulf exists between its damnable falsehoods and God's eternal truth. We shall see that the Book of Mormon is an evil fiction involving a massive deconstruction of the Bible; that Mormonism is a religion of false gods; that its "Father God" is not God the Father of the Bible but a pagan monstrosity; that it worships a false Christ; and that "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" is the false name of a false church.
